Russia is ready for a trilateral meeting on Ukraine in Abu Dhabi in October. Grigory Karasin, chairman of the Federation Council's International Affairs Committee, said this on September 30, 2026. According to him, Moscow welcomes any contacts.

“A meeting for the sake of having a meeting is absolutely unnecessary, so what matters here is not so much the place and date of the meeting as the substance, preparation and moving forward. I personally have the impression that the Kyiv regime is ready to do anything it wants, but not to reach an agreement on the substance,” Karasin explained.

Earlier, Vladimir Dzhabarov, deputy chairman of the Federation Council's International Affairs Committee, expressed the view that the U.S. proposal to halt attacks on energy facilities, resume the grain deal and hold a trilateral meeting in Abu Dhabi was yet another attempt to deceive Russia.

Thus, two assessments of the prospects for the trilateral format were voiced in the Federation Council: the Russian side's readiness for contacts and doubts about the substance of the proposals put forward by the U.S. side.
