A delegation from the Turkey Internet Journalism Association (TİGAD) held a key meeting at the Grand National Assembly of Turkey (TBMM).
According to a report by F4Media.az's special correspondent in Turkey, Huseyin Zorkun, TİGAD Chairman Okan Geçgel, Chairman of the TİGAD Advisory Board Dr. Ekrem Teymur and Deputy Chairman for Organization Bayram Polat met with former Vice President of Turkey, AK Party Ankara MP and Chairman of the TBMM Foreign Affairs Committee Fuat Oktay.
The main topic of discussion at the meeting was the Turkish Journalists Association project prepared by TİGAD. Okan Geçgel presented the document prepared in connection with the project to Fuat Oktay and provided information about the initiative's objectives.
The project envisages uniting traditional and digital media within a single professional framework, strengthening the professional rights of journalists and developing the institutional structure of journalism.
Fuat Oktay emphasized the importance of efforts to protect the rights of journalists, strengthen the legal framework of internet journalism and establish the Turkish Journalists Association, and expressed his support for the project.
TİGAD Chairman Okan Geçgel, for his part, stated that the project was prepared on the basis of long-term work and the needs of the media sector. According to him, the main goal is to form a modern and strong professional structure that covers all areas of the journalism profession in Turkey.
The TİGAD delegation thanked Fuat Oktay for the meeting and the support shown.
In the coming period, meetings with state institutions and media organizations are planned to continue in connection with the project.
