Five Azerbaijani boxers reach European Championship finals

Five members of the Azerbaijani team have reached the finals of the U-17 European Youth Boxing Championship in Budva, and three more claimed bronze.

Five members of the Azerbaijani team have reached the finals of the U-17 European Youth Boxing Championship, which is taking place in the Montenegrin city of Budva. This was reported by the Azerbaijan Boxing Federation following the semifinal bouts.

In the decisive bouts, the Azerbaijani boxers will have the chance to fight for gold medals. Below are the semifinal results.

Semifinal results

Jamila Muradly (57 kg) faced Morena Stifani (Italy) and won 4:1 (30:27, 28:29, 30:27, 29:28, 30:27). In the final she will face Alia Ibrahim (Germany).

Sama Abbasova (66 kg) defeated Yustina Anufrieva (Russia) 4:1 (30:27, 28:29, 30:27, 29:28, 30:27). Her opponent in the decisive bout will be Ada Eybe (Turkey).

Khasrat Mamedov (46 kg) proved stronger than Ronan Charles (Ireland) 3:2 (28:29, 30:27, 30:27, 30:27, 28:29). In the final he will face Cristi Cashunu (Romania).

Ismail Nasirzade (52 kg) beat Martin Nevin (Ireland) 5:0 (29:28, 30:27, 29:28, 29:28, 29:28). His opponent in the decisive bout will be Shailo Macleod (England).

Magomedali Istamov (57 kg) got the better of Nikita Zakharchenko (Ukraine) 5:0 (30:26, 30:26, 30:26, 30:26, 30:26). He will face Jon Elam (England) for the gold medal.

Three more Azerbaijani boxers — Gardash Ragimov (54 kg), Khidayat Mamedov (70 kg) and Khumar Jafarly (+80 kg) — finished the championship with bronze medals.

The final bouts will take place on 11 October.
