British Council to resume IELTS exams across China after four-day cancellations
The British Council said IELTS exams across China will resume on Wednesday after four days of cancellations caused by technical problems. Affected candidates will be offered free additional sessions on October 19 and 20.

The British Council announced that IELTS exams across China will resume on Wednesday. The move comes after four days of cancellations caused by technical problems that left test-takers in a difficult position at the height of the season for applications to universities abroad.
The decision was announced on Tuesday afternoon. The British Council will hold two free additional sessions on October 19 and 20 for affected candidates, and will also reimburse reasonable travel and accommodation costs for those who had travelled to test centres.
The cancellations began on Saturday and continued through Tuesday. It is being described as a rare nationwide disruption since IELTS was introduced in mainland China in 1989.
