France to Send 3,000 Substitute Teachers to Schools Amid Protests
French Education Minister Édouard Philippe said 3,000 substitute teachers will be sent to schools facing staffing shortages. The decision comes amid protests.

French Education Minister Édouard Philippe said on October 8 that 3,000 substitute teachers will be sent to schools facing staffing shortages, amid protests.
"We have 3,000 teachers available as replacements who are currently not teaching, in part because we previously lacked the ability to deploy them effectively. In the coming hours, these 3,000 teachers will start work in these schools," he said on TF1 television.
According to the minister, software ordered a year ago made it possible to identify schools in an extremely difficult situation.
He specified that 114 lycées are in the "red zone," with another 400 in the "orange zone."
