Bahçeli Issues Statement on Organization of Turkic States
Nationalist Movement Party Chairman Devlet Bahçeli issued a written statement on the Organization of Turkic States and Turkey's upcoming chairmanship. He highlighted the significance of the Ankara summit and relations between Turkey and Azerbaijan.

Nationalist Movement Party (MHP) Chairman Devlet Bahçeli issued a written statement on October 14, 2026, devoted to the Organization of Turkic States (OTS) and Turkey's upcoming chairmanship of the body.
According to him, the level reached by the OTS is of great significance for the future of the Turkic world at a time when political, economic and geopolitical processes in the world are accelerating. Bahçeli said the organization has become an institutional foundation for a shared history, culture and vision of a common future.
"Cooperation between Turkic states is developing on the basis of mutual respect, equality and common interests."
The statement says that a new period is taking shape in the Turkic world from the Adriatic to the Great Wall of China, in which political will is strengthening, economic and trade ties are developing, and transport and energy communications are expanding. According to Bahçeli, the growth of cooperation opportunities in the fields of the defense industry, technology, education, science and culture shows that relations between Turkic states are acquiring a multidimensional character.
Bahçeli stressed that relations within the OTS are based on the principle of respect for the sovereignty, independence, territorial integrity and domestic legislation of each member state. Each Turkic republic, he noted, is an independent and sovereign state.
Turkey and Azerbaijan
Bahçeli separately addressed relations between Turkey and Azerbaijan, calling them two strong states of a single "geographic community of the soul." He said that in the face of any approaches that harm the fraternal relations between the two countries, it is important to act on the basis of common sense, mutual understanding and shared reason. He described Turkey's upcoming chairmanship of the OTS as an important responsibility and opportunity.
According to Bahçeli, the meeting between Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan at the summit once again demonstrates the unshakable will of Turkish-Azerbaijani brotherhood. The OTS summit, due to be held in Ankara in the last week of October, he called historically important: at it, the chairmanship will pass from Azerbaijan to Turkey.
The statement also says that ministries, state bodies, universities, local administrations, professional associations and civil society structures should, within their competence, develop concrete, long-term and results-oriented projects in accordance with the "Vision 2040" document. Bahçeli recalled the principle of Ismail Gaspirali: "Unity in language, thought and deeds."
According to him, during its chairmanship Turkey will continue to contribute to the goals of unity, solidarity and the rise of the Turkic world, drawing on its history, state experience and vision of the future.
