About a third of employees at Russian companies fear losing the skills needed to work without artificial intelligence. Forbes wrote about this with reference to a study by the corporate training platform Teachbase, and the information was reported by Vedomosti.

The survey was conducted online. It involved 3,500 people working in small, medium and large businesses across Russia. According to the results, 31% of employees are worried about the possible loss of skills needed to work without AI.

What employees are afraid of

Nearly 20% of respondents said that without a neural network, completing tasks is becoming much harder. Another 14% use AI too often, but do not yet see a problem in this.

Other concerns are related to security and accountability. 22% of respondents are afraid that the company's data will leak, and 17% are worried that they will have to answer for a neural network's error. Also, 13% fear that they will be replaced by new technology. 17% of participants said the survey does not worry them at all.

Link between fear of job loss and AI

In September, the journal Occupational Health Science published a study by Washington State University. According to its data, fear of losing a job due to AI increases employees' propensity to violate discipline. Workers from 18 industries who were afraid of being replaced by artificial intelligence often showed "moral disengagement" from work: they came to shifts with a hangover and spent working hours surfing the internet.

Earlier, Vedomosti wrote that in February, thanks to the introduction of artificial intelligence in 2025, Sberbank cut 20% of its staff. The Salesforce online recruiting agent laid off about 8.5% of employees over a month because of this technology. Experts in a CNBC survey stated that companies may use AI as a "cover for lay-offs" to justify unpopular mass job cuts.
