Scientists from Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan agree on the digitization of herbarium collections
A meeting was held in Turkmenistan between representatives of the Institute of Botany of the Academy of Sciences of Uzbekistan and the Oguz Han Engineering and Technology University, dedicated to the preservation and digitization of the region's unique plant heritage.

Negotiations took place at the Institute of General and Applied Biology of the Oguz Han Engineering and Technology University of Turkmenistan with the participation of a delegation from the Institute of Botany of the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Uzbekistan. The parties discussed prospects for cooperation in studying and preserving the unique species diversity of the flora of both countries.
The key topic of the meeting was the digitization of herbarium collections. The scientists reviewed the technical aspects of preparing scientific data for digital publication, which will make research results accessible to the international scientific community.
According to experts, converting herbaria into a digital format will significantly expand opportunities for monitoring biodiversity, studying the dynamics of changes in the plant world, and analyzing the distribution ranges of various species.
During the visit, the specialists exchanged accumulated experience and identified priority areas for further interaction. The participants emphasized that the herbarium collections gathered in the territories of Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan are of high value for both national and global scientific projects.
