In Azerbaijan, the start date of the heating season is discussed every year. Under official rules, heating systems in most regions of the country are switched on from November 15, but early cold spells lead residents to expect that heat will be supplied sooner. Whether the established date can be changed was addressed by Elvin Baskally, press secretary of Azeristiliktachizat OJSC.
Season dates
According to him, under the rules approved by Cabinet of Ministers Resolution No. 128 of May 4, 2026, in Baku and other districts of the country the heating season covers the period from November 15 to April 15, and in certain districts from November 1 to May 1.
Baskally noted that a drop in temperature for just a few days is not considered grounds for starting the season early. For that, the cold weather must be prolonged and severe. In such a case, a decision to change the start date can be taken with notification of the relevant state bodies.
The situation in Karabakh
The organisation's representative also touched on the situation in Karabakh. According to him, some buildings connected to central boiler houses are serviced by other structures. In Shusha, Azeristiliktachizat built 7 boiler houses, and heating and hot water supply systems have been installed for 16 buildings of various purposes.
The main purpose of the work being carried out is to identify possible faults before the start of the heating season and prevent disruptions during the winter months.
