Criminal hiding from justice for eight years arrested in Istanbul
Istanbul police have arrested Tugrul Basar, who was convicted in 2010 for theft by impersonating a public official. The criminal was caught in the Kadikoy district.

Officers from the Wanted Persons Bureau of the Istanbul Public Security Department conducted an operation to arrest Tugrul Basar, who had been on the run for eight years. The man was sentenced to prison in 2010 in Samsun province for 'theft by using a fake official status.'
The convict had been on the wanted list since February 28, 2018. During investigative search operations, police determined that Basar was hiding in the Kadikoy district. It was revealed that he moved around the city in women's clothing to avoid detection.
Upon his arrest, an identity card belonging to his sister was found on the suspect. According to the investigation, it was the use of someone else's documents that allowed the man to hide from law enforcement for such a long time.
A case has been opened against Tugrul Basar for the use of another person's personal data. After initial investigative procedures, the detainee was taken to the Iskele police station in the Kadikoy district for further processing and to carry out his sentence.
