Inflation in France accelerated to 2.4% in August
According to data from the National Institute of Statistics and Economic Studies (INSEE), annual inflation in France rose from 2.1% in July to 2.4% in August.

Consumer prices in France in August showed an acceleration in growth to 2.4% year-on-year, compared to 2.1% the previous month. These preliminary figures were published on Friday by the National Institute of Statistics and Economic Studies (INSEE).
The main driver of inflation was a significant increase in energy costs, particularly petroleum products. In August, energy prices rose by 16.7% year-on-year, whereas in July this figure stood at 12.6%.
Dynamics in other sectors were mixed. Annual food inflation increased to 1.1% from 1%, with the cost of fresh food products jumping by 5.8%. Prices for manufactured goods fell by 0.4% year-on-year after a 0.7% decline in July. Inflation in the services sector slowed to 2% from 2.2%, while tobacco prices rose by 3.3%, maintaining the same level as the previous month.
In monthly terms, consumer prices in August rose by 0.7% following a 0.6% increase in July. This trend reflects a seasonal recovery in prices for manufactured goods, including clothing and footwear, following the end of the summer sales period. Growth was also recorded in energy and food prices, while the cost of services and tobacco products remained unchanged.
The Harmonized Index of Consumer Prices (HICP), used for comparison with other EU countries, reached 2.7% year-on-year in August, up from 2.4% in July. In monthly terms, this indicator rose by 0.8%.
