Parents whose children have fallen ill should wear a medical mask in autumn, said epidemiologist and academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences Gennadi Onishchenko. His words were published by aif.ru.

“If a child in the family has contracted a respiratory infection, then, of course, you will not put a mask on their face. They will not wear a mask. But in such a case, adults must wear a mask,” Onishchenko said.

He added that if one of the adults has fallen ill and there are children in the family, that person must also wear a mask or be isolated in a separate room in order not to infect the children.

The epidemiologist also touched on the situation in a work collective. If someone has fallen ill and two or three more people have been infected after them, they must also wear a mask, or better yet, take sick leave.

The recommendations were voiced against the backdrop of an increase in cases in Rospotrebnadzor statistics.
