Polad Bulbuloglu getting married again at the age of 81 became an unexpected debate on social media. Some calculated the age difference, some were surprised, and some started condemning the People’s Artist. It was as if it was not about wedding news, but a general assembly of society.

However, the matter is actually very simple: two mature adults loved each other and chose each other as life partners. What is creating such a big problem for us here?

It is also specially noted that Polad Bulbuloglu’s spouse is an artist, well-known dancer, and pedagogue Eteri Jafarova. The fact that they knew each other in the art environment and had creative connections for many years shows that the relationship did not arise all of a sudden.

But it seems that in our society, love also has an age limit. If you get married at 30 — it’s normal. At 50 — “late, but good for them.” At 70 — “well, interesting.” And at 80, the experts get to work: “Is it possible to get married at this age?”

Why not?

If a person can write music, take the stage, start a new job, or travel the world at 80 years old, why can’t they love? After all, no age limit has been set for the heart. Love has no retirement age.

Moreover, this isn’t just Polad Bulbuloglu’s choice. The other party made her choice as well. If two people have mutual consent and happiness, on what grounds should we decide for them from the outside?

Perhaps the problem is not in the age difference. The problem is in our desire to fit other people’s lives into our own mold.

And the strangest thing is this: most of those who discuss someone else’s love don’t even know how much happiness exists in their own lives. Yet they turn around and put an “age” measure on two people’s relationship.

After all, even though Polad Bulbuloglu is 81 years old, nobody gave an age of 81 to his heart.

A person grows old, hair turns grey, years pass. But the right to love does not grow old. Therefore, before placing an age limit on someone else’s love, let’s look at our own lives a bit. Because it is not at what age a person gets married, but with whom and how they want to live the rest of their life that is their own decision.

The rest is just our opinion.

And not every opinion is a verdict.
