A regional center for livestock genetics and reproductive biotechnology will be established in Azerbaijan

A new stage of cooperation has begun between Azerbaijan and Pakistan aimed at further strengthening ties in agriculture and livestock, applying advanced technologies, and implementing joint projects.

On September 28, 2026, in Baku, a memorandum of cooperation was signed between the Azerbaijani side’s “Milagro Ganaderia LLC” and Pakistan’s “Eco Breed Genetics (EBG)” company. The document envisages the development of long-term cooperation between the two countries in the field of livestock genetics, breeding, and reproductive biotechnologies. Within the framework of the cooperation, the implementation of the project “Development of advanced livestock genetics, reproductive biotechnology and a Regional Genetics Center in Azerbaijan” is planned.

One of the investors of “Milagro Ganaderia LLC,” which represents the Azerbaijani side in the project, is local Azerbaijani businessman and entrepreneur Farid Mustafayev. With his participation, it is envisaged to expand cooperation between Azerbaijani and Pakistani companies and develop ties toward the implementation of new investments and joint projects.

According to the document, the parties will work jointly in Azerbaijan in the field of livestock genetics, breeding programs, and reproductive biotechnologies.

It should be noted that the Regional Genetics Center is planned to be established in Samukh district, where the main livestock farm of “Milagro Ganaderia LLC” is located. The center’s operation in this particular area will create favorable opportunities in terms of the existing farm infrastructure, livestock potential, and the practical application of the project. At the same time, locating the center close to the main farm base will create conditions for more efficient organization of work on genetic selection, pedigree livestock breeding, and reproductive biotechnologies.

Within the framework of the project, it is planned to apply IVF (artificial insemination), artificial insemination, embryo transfer, and other modern reproductive biotechnologies, as well as to carry out work toward breeding livestock with high genetic indicators.

With the establishment of the Regional Genetics Center, the goal is to expand the application of modern genetic and reproductive technologies in Azerbaijan’s livestock sector, strengthen local genetic potential, and contribute to the development of pedigree livestock breeding.

One of the important areas of cooperation is the integration of Pakistan’s experience in this field into the Azerbaijani market and regional projects. Within this framework, the exchange of technology and experience, the training of specialists, and the expansion of opportunities for the use of genetic material and reproductive technologies are envisaged.

The continuation of cooperation will also create conditions for establishing new business ties between the businesspeople and companies of the two countries and for increasing mutual investment opportunities in the fields of agriculture and livestock.
