The Federal Service for Intellectual Property (Rospatent) has developed a special mechanism that allows for the verification of the authenticity of goods presented on marketplaces. The system is designed to protect buyers from purchasing counterfeit products.
The development of the new tool was announced on September 10, 2026, by the head of Rospatent, Yuri Zubov. The mechanism involves the verification of product listings, which will allow for the filtering out of illegal offers on trading platforms.
Previously, the need to strengthen control over the circulation of goods on the internet was discussed at the government level. In particular, Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin has repeatedly emphasized the importance of protecting intellectual property rights and ensuring consumer safety amidst the rapid growth of online retail.
