Turkey has seized a plane belonging to the airline Iranian Airlines over millions in unpaid debts, as a result of which Iranian passengers were left stranded.
The seizure came a week after the United States imposed secondary sanctions on Iran's aviation sector. After that, airports and airlines across the region began cancelling flights to and from Iran.
On 25 September 2026, an Iranian commercial aircraft landed at Mehrabad Airport in Tehran.
