Rumors Emerge of Elon Musk and Shivon Zilis Splitting
Neuralink director Shivon Zilis published a social media post suggesting she and Elon Musk had separated. There is no official confirmation from either side.

Shivon Zilis, a top executive at Neuralink, published an extensive social media post indicating that Elon Musk had abruptly ended their relationship. The post was prompted by a user who noticed that Musk is no longer following Zilis on X.
"It's hard to go from being in love to a breakup within a week without warning, but sometimes that's exactly how things work out," Zilis wrote.
In her message, she noted that she was glad she had been able to show Musk what it means to be deeply understood, surrounded by care and calm love. According to her, she wanted him to experience the deepest and most enduring form of love.
"We were always his safe space. A place where we all rejoiced at his arrival and where happiness and love always reigned, not war," the post says. Zilis added that she will miss Musk very much and hopes to maintain a good friendship with him and to co-parent their children together. "It hurts me, but I sincerely wish him happiness," she wrote.
Who Is Shivon Zilis
Shivon Zilis is a Canadian artificial intelligence specialist, venture investor and former member of the OpenAI board. She graduated from Yale University with degrees in economics and philosophy. She began her career at IBM in Peru and Indonesia, then became one of the founders of the Bloomberg Beta fund, where she invested in machine learning. She also worked on the Tesla Autopilot project and chip design.
Musk and Zilis met through OpenAI in 2016, where Zilis was an adviser. In 2017, she joined Neuralink and eventually became director of operations and special projects.
In November 2021, Musk and Zilis had twins Strider and Azure in Austin, Texas; they were conceived via IVF. Musk's biographer Walter Isaacson called Zilis an "intellectual companion." Later they went to a Texas court with a request to change the twins' names to include Musk's surname, and in July 2022 court documents made their relationship public. The couple's third child was a daughter, Arcadia — Musk confirmed her birth in June 2024. In January 2025, Zilis accompanied Musk to events around Donald Trump's inauguration, and in February she announced the birth of their fourth child, Seldon Lycurgus.
