Volodymyr Zelensky said on October 8 that Kyiv is not in a diplomatic deadlock, and he sharply criticized the administration of US President Donald Trump for its unwillingness to fulfill all of Ukraine's requests.

He was commenting on US Secretary of State Marco Rubio's remarks about a "stalemate" in the Ukrainian matter.

"You cannot negotiate with the Russians on the one hand while on the other hand saying that we are in some kind of diplomatic deadlock. We are not in a diplomatic deadlock."

Zelensky added that he has repeatedly asked the American leader to provide Ukraine with additional assistance, and said that Trump "should do more."

Marco Rubio said on Thursday that the US will continue working on a Ukrainian settlement, noting that a deadlock has now emerged.

As President Vladimir Putin said on October 1, Russia would like to end hostilities in Ukraine as quickly as possible through a peaceful settlement. At the same time, Moscow is ready for talks, but does not see any willingness on the part of the Kyiv regime, the president added.
