The US believes that if the conflict does not end, Ukraine faces a harsh winter. This was reported by Axios, citing sources. The American president's administration hopes to achieve a diplomatic breakthrough in resolving the conflict before the November midterm elections and the onset of winter.

"Everyone is nervous about the winter. If the conflict does not end, the winter will be hard. That is why the US is trying to act as a mediator between the parties in order to work out a unified proposal," a source told the publication.

US Special Representative Steve Witkoff and the son-in-law of the White House chief of staff, Jared Kushner, will meet with representatives of Ukraine on October 9 in Miami. The meeting is expected to discuss new ideas and work out a unified proposal on resolving the Russian-Ukrainian conflict.

Earlier, Russian President Vladimir Putin expressed gratitude to the American leader for his efforts to resolve the conflict in Ukraine. According to Putin, he is convinced that the US leader is doing this sincerely.
