Anatoly Kashpirovsky, a psychotherapist who rose to fame as a television psychic in the late 1980s and 1990s, has died at the age of 87. His death was reported by Andrei Malakhov's Telegram channel.

According to Russian media, Kashpirovsky's heart stopped. Relatives called for emergency help, but he could not be saved.

Kashpirovsky became a phenomenon of the perestroika era. In the late 1980s he drew millions of viewers, conducting mass televised sessions of 'healing' and hypnosis.

In the early 1990s he emigrated to the United States, but in the 2000s he returned to Russia, where he occasionally held meetings and sold water charged by his 'devices.'

About a year ago, in October 2025, Kashpirovsky was urgently hospitalized in Moscow due to complications from cancer. He received radiation therapy, but the psychotherapist himself, according to relatives, did not particularly believe in it.
