The Canadian government has announced the introduction of new customs duties on a wide range of American-made goods. This move is a retaliatory measure against trade restrictions imposed by the United States last week.
According to an official statement, starting September 8, Canada is increasing tariffs on imports of steel and aluminum from the US to 50 percent. This decision effectively doubles the current rates for this category of metal products.
In addition to metallurgical products, the new tariff measures apply to a broad list of goods. The restrictions will affect approximately 700 items of American products imported into the Canadian market.
