China-EU trade turnover grew by 12.4% in the first eight months of 2026
According to data from the General Administration of Customs of the PRC, trade turnover between China and EU countries increased by 12.4% from January to August 2026.

According to the General Administration of Customs of the PRC, trade turnover between China and the European Union exceeded 608 billion dollars in the first eight months of 2026. This figure represents a 12.4% increase compared to the same period last year.
Chinese exports to EU countries during the reporting period amounted to 425.294 billion dollars, an increase of 15.3% year-on-year. Shipments of goods from the European Union to China grew by 6.2%, reaching 182.804 billion dollars.
Germany remains China's key trading partner within the bloc: the volume of trade between the two countries totaled 152.138 billion dollars, which is 9.7% higher than last year's figures. The top three leaders in trade volume with China also included the Netherlands (79.248 billion dollars) and France (62.148 billion dollars).
Previously, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen noted the issue of the growing trade imbalance. According to her, the EU's trade deficit with China has reached nearly one billion euros per day and has increased by another 10% since the beginning of the current year.
The EC head emphasized that over the last five years, European imports from China have grown by 45%, while exports to the PRC are declining. For the first time in history, a trade deficit in relations with China has been recorded for all 27 EU member states.
