Oil and gas production, as well as implementation and development projects in Iran, continue at full capacity. This was stated on October 5, 2026, at a meeting of the council of deputy oil ministers in Tehran by the head of Iran's Oil Ministry, Hamid Bowerd.

Oil Ministry priorities

According to Bowerd, the priorities of Iran's Oil Ministry are restoring facilities damaged during the war against Iran and continuing crude oil sales so the country can successfully overcome the difficult period ahead.

The priorities of Iran's Oil Ministry are restoring facilities damaged during the war against Iran and continuing crude oil sales so the country can successfully overcome the difficult period ahead.

Bowerd named ensuring stable fuel supplies for the coming cold months as the current priority in Iran's oil and gas sector. According to the National Iranian Oil Products Distribution Company, fuel reserves are at an appropriate level, and efforts must be made to ensure fuel supplies continue properly.

Iran's national gas company, according to him, should take measures to prevent excessive consumption and ensure proper gas consumption. He called achieving a 10% reduction in gas consumption a very important step.

Bowerd also said that continued production and export of petrochemical products plays an effective role in increasing foreign currency revenues and supporting the country's economy. Therefore, according to him, barriers to exports must be removed and the sector's opportunities used to the maximum extent.

Change of Oil Ministry head

Iran's Oil Minister Mohsen Paknejad resigned on October 4. Iran's president appointed Hamid Bowerd, deputy oil minister and general director of the National Iranian Oil Company, as head of the Oil Ministry.
