Iraqi Prime Minister Ali Falih al-Zaidi designated October 1, 2026 as the start of a serious approach to the issue of weapons outside state control. June 30, 2027 was set as the deadline for completing the process of bringing faction weapons under state control.

He also set June 30, 2027 as the deadline for completing the process of bringing faction weapons under state control. By that date, faction weapons are to be concentrated in the hands of the state.
