Kazakhstan to Allocate Billions to Pensioners Ahead of Holiday

In Kazakhstan, 274,200 pensioners will receive one-time payments for the International Day of Older Persons. The total amount of assistance is 3.8 billion tenge. The Ministry of Labor and Social Protection of the Population of the Republic of Kazakhstan explained who it is intended for.

In Kazakhstan, 274,200 pensioners will receive one-time payments for the International Day of Older Persons totaling 3.8 billion tenge. This was reported by the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection of the Population of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

Who is eligible for the payment

  • – recipients of pensions at the minimum and below-minimum levels (in Astana, Ulytau, Pavlodar and Akmola regions);
  • – Kazakhstani citizens over 70 years of age (in Mangystau region and Shymkent);
  • – citizens over 75 years of age (in Karaganda region);
  • – single elderly people receiving special social services at home (in Turkestan region).

The ministry added that overall in 2026, more than 6.6 billion tenge has been allocated for social support of about 120,000 elderly Kazakhstanis. These funds are designated for the purchase of firewood, coal, medicines, coverage of household and utility expenses, treatment, rehabilitation and sanatorium-resort treatment.

According to the ministry, about 2.6 million citizens in Kazakhstan receive age-based pension payments.

What changed in pension payments

From January 1, 2026, the amount of solidarity pensions was increased by 10%. In addition, due to the change in the subsistence minimum, the size of the basic pension payment was increased. This year, the minimum basic pension has been raised to 70% of the subsistence minimum, and the maximum — from 110% to 118%.
