On the night of October 6, Romania scrambled two F-18 fighter jets near the border with Ukraine. The country's Ministry of Defence announced this.
According to the defence ministry, two aerial targets moving through Ukraine's airspace were detected near the border.
"Two F-18 fighter jets of the Spanish Air and Space Forces took off from the 57th Air Base named after Mikhail Kogalniceanu," the statement said.
An air alert was declared in Tulcea County and remained in effect for one hour.
The Ministry of Defence said the detected drones did not violate the country's airspace.
It was previously reported that Poland scrambled fighter jets over alleged Russian activity in Ukraine.
