STC and SRMG sign agreement to develop media production in Saudi Arabia

STC Group and the Saudi Research and Media Group (SRMG) signed a memorandum of understanding during the international technology conference LEAP 2026, held in Riyadh. The goal of the collaboration is to strengthen media production in Saudi Arabia by integrating STC's digital capabilities with SRMG's experience in content creation.
Riyadh Muawad, CEO of STC's business unit, noted that the company will provide the necessary infrastructure, cloud resources, and technical expertise to support a new generation of media production. According to him, the partnership with SRMG will allow these capabilities to be combined with advanced media expertise to develop the country's content industry.
Jomana Al-Rashid, CEO of SRMG, emphasized that technology is transforming the media industry amid growing demand for high-quality content. She stated that the collaboration with SRMG will allow for the exploration of production models based on cloud computing and artificial intelligence, which will support Saudi talent and the growth of the media sector.
The agreement covers five key areas. The parties plan to implement high-performance connectivity solutions, including fiber-optic networks and edge computing, to support modern studios and remote workflows. The creation of production centers with advanced broadcasting technologies is also being considered.
The partners intend to develop secure cloud platforms for storing and processing media assets, as well as test new technologies such as virtual production, augmented reality, and virtual reality. Furthermore, there are plans to evaluate the use of AI for automating text writing, video editing, and production process management.
This collaboration is intended to increase the efficiency of content creation and strengthen Saudi Arabia's position as a regional and global hub for media production, catering to the needs of both local and international audiences.
