Turkish Airlines signs agreement to buy 150 Boeing aircraft
Turkish Airlines has signed an agreement with Boeing for up to 150 737 MAX aircraft. The signing ceremony was attended by Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.

On 23.09.2026, Turkish Airlines signed an agreement with Boeing for the delivery of up to 150 Boeing 737 MAX passenger aircraft. Under the deal, 100 Boeing 737-8 aircraft are firm orders, while another 50 are covered by options. The signing ceremony was attended by Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
The agreement is the largest single order for narrow-body aircraft that Turkish Airlines has ever placed with Boeing. Negotiations between the companies have continued since last year.
The new aircraft are expected to strengthen Turkish Airlines' network of short- and medium-haul routes and support the company's fleet expansion plans. The agreement also provides for the possibility of switching to the Boeing 737-10, the largest model in the 737 MAX family.
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan was in the United States to attend the 81st session of the UN General Assembly when the agreement was signed.
Turkish Airlines Chairman of the Board and Executive Committee Prof. Dr. Murat Seker called the agreement an important step in the fleet expansion strategy. According to him, the new Boeing 737 MAX aircraft will support the company's extensive flight network based in Istanbul and increase operational efficiency and flexibility.
Stephanie Pope, President and Chief Executive Officer of Boeing Commercial Airplanes, said the agreement reflects the long-standing cooperation between the two companies and noted that Boeing will continue to support Turkish Airlines and Turkey's aviation ecosystem.
The Boeing 737-8 is expected to provide Turkish Airlines with advantages in range and payload, as well as fuel consumption and emissions. According to the company, the 737 MAX family provides approximately 20% lower fuel consumption and emissions compared with previous-generation aircraft.
The Turkish Airlines and AJet fleet already includes more than 200 Boeing aircraft, including the 737 MAX, 737 Next-Generation, 787 Dreamliner, 777 and 777 Freighter. The new order follows Turkish Airlines' order for 75 Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft, placed in 2025.
