The Ministry of Agriculture hosted a press conference on the implementation of the "Agrarian Artificial Intelligence" project and technological innovations applied in the agricultural sector.
Deputy Minister of Agriculture Ilhama Gadimova provided information on the significance of the project, the results achieved and the work to be carried out at the next stage. It was stated that the implementation of the project serves to expand the application of artificial intelligence and digital technologies in agriculture, increase productivity, promote the efficient use of water and other resources, assess agrarian risks in advance and improve state support mechanisms.
It was noted that currently, of the 33 solutions envisaged under the project, 13 have already been put into operation, 11 are in the testing and integration stage, 7 are being prepared, and work on 2 is planned to begin. The solutions currently in operation cover plant health, plant suitability, irrigation management, a dynamic climate map and farmer rating programs. At the next stage, work will continue on testing the solutions, integrating them into the relevant information systems and expanding their use among farmers.
The deputy minister also stated that conditions have been created for nearly 350,000 active farmers in Azerbaijan to benefit from the capabilities of the "Agrarian Artificial Intelligence" project through an electronic cabinet.
In his speech, the head of the project, Surkhay Novruzov, drew attention to the fact that modern decision-making capabilities have been created for farmers. He noted that 18 modules related to diseases and pests affecting the main crops cultivated in the country have been integrated into the system.
He stated that the "Agrarian Artificial Intelligence" project, by analyzing weather conditions, soil and climate indicators, enables the determination of the timing of treatment and sowing, the justification of the selection of suitable plants and varieties, the assessment of possible risks in advance, as well as the more efficient use of farm resources.
The project, which began operations in 2024, serves the implementation of the measure on the creation of an artificial intelligence system envisaged in the State Program for 2026-2030.
At the end of the press conference, journalists' questions were answered.
