Apple acknowledges problem with cracking screen on foldable iPhone Duo
Apple confirmed that the internal screen of its first foldable smartphone, the iPhone Duo, may come loose from its frame in a small number of devices. Buyers reported that the display cracks within hours or days of purchase.

Apple has confirmed a problem with the internal screen of its first foldable smartphone, the iPhone Duo. Earlier, some buyers reported that the display cracks within hours or days of purchase. Kursiv Media Kazakhstan, citing a reference to the report, informs F4Media of this.
Symptoms of the defect
In some cases, bright horizontal lines and white spots appear on the screen. Owners say that when the device is opened, a strange crunch is heard, after which a noticeable crease appears.
As Bloomberg reports, Apple said it was aware of the problem. The company stressed that it had affected a small number of devices.
"We are aware of an issue affecting the internal display of a small number of iPhone Duo units," an Apple representative said.
Possible causes and a solution for buyers
Experts examined the device and suggested that the cause may lie in the complex hinge mechanism, which consists of dozens of small parts. In their assessment, a minor manufacturing defect or debris getting inside the hinge could damage the fragile flexible display.
Buyers who encountered the defect were advised to contact the AppleCare support service. The company promised to replace damaged smartphones under the warranty service. A paid replacement of such a screen without warranty would cost the owner $999 (about 452 thousand tenge).
Sales and prices
The iPhone Duo went on sale on October 23. In Kazakhstan, the price of the smartphone starts at 1.5 million tenge.
According to Apple, users and developers have welcomed the iPhone Duo warmly, and popular apps are already being updated for the new large format. The problem with fragile screens remains one of the main obstacles to the spread of foldable smartphones. Similar defects also occurred in Samsung devices that appeared on the market earlier.
