At Astana Airport, young people from the capital held a festive action for foreign guests timed to Republic Day. Volunteers handed arriving visitors Kazakh flags and chocolate, and greeted them on behalf of the city.
The action was designed to welcome guests to Kazakhstan and share the holiday mood in the airport arrivals hall.
Madina, a volunteer at the youth resource centre Astana Zhastary, said that Republic Day symbolises independence, unity and pride in the country. According to her, volunteers enjoyed sharing the holiday's joy with guests from Kazakhstan.
«Republic Day symbolises independence, unity and pride in the country. It is a pleasure for volunteers to share the holiday's joy with guests from Kazakhstan», said Madina, a volunteer at the youth resource centre Astana Zhastary.
One of the participants in the action was Dean Rassel from Iordania (Jordan), president of the organisation Wrestling for Peace. He arrived in Astana for the World Wrestling Championship and had previously visited Kazakhstan during the World Nomad Games.
«This is a wonderful place with incredible people and an amazing culture. Here live people who truly love life and sport», said Rassel, sharing his impressions.
According to Rassel, during his previous trip he was particularly interested in observing various forms of wrestling. He is glad to return to Astana, where the strongest wrestlers from around the world have gathered to compete for the title of champion.
