A commercial vessel was hit in the Strait of Hormuz. The Fars news agency reported the incident, citing maritime security company Ambrey.
According to the data, the commercial vessel was hit by a projectile while travelling along the southern route through the strait in the area of Oman, north of the city of Khasab.
A fire broke out on the vessel after the strike. Firefighting operations are reportedly continuing.
The name of the vessel, the condition of the crew and who carried out the strike have not been disclosed.
A number of incidents involving commercial vessels have been recorded in the Strait of Hormuz in recent days. The United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) said on September 23 that a commercial vessel in the strait had been hit by an unknown projectile, the vessel was on fire, and the crew had been evacuated.
