In January–August 2026, Georgia imported 3,790 tonnes of tomatoes from Azerbaijan worth $2.71 million, 2.5 times more in value and 2.4 times more in volume than in the same period of 2025.
According to the National Statistics Service of Georgia, Azerbaijan ranked second among tomato-exporting countries to Georgia by volume of supplies.
In total, during the first eight months of 2026, Georgia purchased 20,905 tonnes of tomatoes abroad for $15 million. Year-on-year, the import volume increased by 6.7%, while its value rose by 7.4%.
Turkey was the largest supplier: Georgia imported 9,759 tonnes of tomatoes from Turkey worth $7 million. It was followed by Azerbaijan, Turkmenistan — 2,676 tonnes worth $2.2 million, Armenia — 2,383 tonnes worth $1.55 million, and Iran — 2,249 tonnes worth $1.5 million.
