Pentagon Sends About 10,000 Troops to Middle East
The US is deploying about 10,000 additional troops to the Middle East after negotiations to end the war with Iran reached a deadlock.

The Pentagon is sending about 10,000 additional troops to the Middle East. The move comes after negotiations to end the war with Iran, now in its eighth month, reached a deadlock.
The aircraft carrier USS Theodore Roosevelt left port in San Diego on Sunday, and the USS Makin Island amphibious ready group, which includes three amphibious ships with elements of the 13th Marine Expeditionary Unit, deployed on Monday. The Wall Street Journal reported the deployments.
According to an official, this could mean three aircraft carriers in the region by the end of October. The USS George H.W. Bush and USS George Washington carriers are currently in the region, along with the USS Boxer amphibious ready group.
The deployment will raise the US naval presence in the region to an unusually high level — more than 20,000 sailors and Marines and hundreds of aircraft.
