Two supertankers carrying Saudi oil were struck by unknown projectiles while passing through the Strait of Hormuz. The incidents occurred late Monday night, minutes apart, as the vessels were transiting out of the region.

Marisks characterized the event as a serious escalation of threats in the Gulf of Oman, noting that the near-simultaneous attacks indicate a deteriorating security situation in the area.
