Uzbekistan and Denmark Set New Directions for Economic Cooperation
On October 5, 2026, an Uzbek-Danish roundtable on trade, economic and investment cooperation was held in Tashkent. It concluded with the signing of a memorandum on the creation of a bilateral commission.

On October 5, 2026, an Uzbek-Danish roundtable was held in the capital of Uzbekistan, dedicated to expanding trade, economic and investment cooperation between the two countries and filling already established ties with concrete projects. Following the event, a Memorandum on the creation of a bilateral commission on trade, economic and investment cooperation was signed between the Ministry of Investment, Industry and Trade of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Denmark.
Opportunities for Investors
Opening the event, Deputy Prime Minister Jamshid Khodjayev noted that in recent years, reforms carried out in Uzbekistan have been creating broad opportunities for foreign investors. Particular attention was paid to the prospects of cooperation with Danish companies in the fields of mining and food industry, energy, water and agriculture, transport and logistics.
We have gathered to work on concrete projects. I am confident that this meeting will become an effective platform for the further development of trade, economic and investment relations between our countries. We are open to dialogue and practical work.
During the roundtable, issues of developing multimodal and container transportation, building terminal infrastructure chains and modern supply chains were discussed. The opportunities of the China – Kyrgyzstan – Uzbekistan railway, the Trans-Afghan corridor and the Middle Corridor passing through the Caspian Sea were separately noted.
Industry, Energy and Water
Prospects for the localization of modern equipment in the mining industry, the development of service services and the introduction of resource-saving technologies were discussed. Cooperation with the Danish company FLSmidth was cited as a practical example. Opportunities for increasing the share of renewable energy sources, improving energy efficiency and implementing new projects based on public-private partnership in the energy sector were also considered. In the field of water management, the introduction of energy-saving pumping equipment, the modernization of irrigation pumping stations and their localization in Uzbekistan were discussed.
There was an exchange of views on expanding production and export opportunities in the agricultural and food industries, as well as on mechanisms for long-term financing of energy and logistics projects and projects in the healthcare sector.
Denmark's Position
Danish Minister of Foreign Affairs Lars Løkke Rasmussen noted that his first official visit to Uzbekistan is aimed at developing bilateral relations, especially in the economic direction. It was emphasized that interest in working in Uzbekistan and investing in this country is growing in Denmark.
We want to strengthen long-term economic cooperation with Uzbekistan and develop a mutually interested commercial partnership. Danish companies can take part in improving the fields of energy, water and agriculture, healthcare, transport and industrial technology. This requires stable, transparent and reliable conditions.
During the roundtable, proposals and initiatives were presented by representatives of the companies FLSmidth, Grundfos, Maersk, AVK International, Scan Global Logistics, Carlsberg, ByteAll Energy and the Danish Export and Investment Fund. The main attention was paid to technological cooperation, localization, infrastructure development, financing and establishing direct ties with Uzbek partners. The event continued with negotiations in the B2B and B2G format.
