Meeting in Baku After 11 Years – Firuza Jalilova Shares Memories of John Mason
Renowned television presenter and journalist Firuza Jalilova met British journalist and presenter John Mason again in Baku after 11 years.

Renowned television presenter and journalist Firuza Jalilova met British journalist and presenter John Mason again in Baku after 11 years.
The meeting took place on the sidelines of the opening stage of the “Silk Road” World Cup in swimming, held in Baku with the organization of the Azerbaijan Swimming Federation. The Baku stage of the World Cup is being held at the Palace of Water Sports on October 1-3.
In a statement to F4Media.az, Firuza Jalilova said that meeting John Mason was meaningful for her not only professionally but also nostalgically. According to her, 11 years ago, during the first European Games, they covered the beach soccer and beach volleyball competitions together.
“It was very nice for me to see John Mason in Baku again after 11 years. 11 years have passed, but some people and some memories are never erased from memory,” Jalilova said.
Interestingly, the two journalists who covered sports competitions together in Baku years ago have once again come together in the capital, this time on the eve of another major international sporting event. This time, their meeting is not at beach sports venues but at the Palace of Water Sports, where leading swimmers from around the world will compete. According to World Aquatics, John Mason is currently also involved in presentation and broadcasting activities related to the Baku stage of the 2026 Swimming World Cup.
Thus, the memory of a professional journey that began 11 years ago has been revived years later in Baku against the backdrop of a new international sporting event.
