US Names Three Dates That Could Shape Ukraine’s Future

The Atlantic has named three events in the coming months that, in its view, could determine Ukraine's future. Russia's RIA Novosti reported this with a reference to the magazine's material.
According to the authors, the first event is the US elections, after which, in their words, only two weeks remain. In their assessment, Ukraine's position is at risk if Democrats win one or both chambers of Congress. President Donald Trump's remaining time in office in the last weeks of his lame-duck period in Washington could make him even harsher toward Kyiv.
The second event is possible talks between Russian President Vladimir Putin, Trump and Chinese leader Xi Jinping on the sidelines of the APEC summit in mid-November. As the material notes, these talks could address the Ukrainian issue without giving Kyiv a seat at the negotiating table.
The authors believe the third date could be a G20 meeting in Miami.
Earlier, Axios reported that Volodymyr Zelensky had appealed to a bipartisan group of senators to put pressure on the Trump administration. The Wall Street Journal noted that relations between Trump and Zelensky have been at their lowest point since their clash in the Oval Office in February 2025. According to the newspaper, after agreements between the US and Russia on arms supplies, Zelensky allowed himself several unflattering statements about the American leader. Trump said Ukraine needs a new leader.
