The daughter of an Azerbaijani man who went missing in Shusha on 8 May 1992 spoke at a rally in Brussels, calling for help in finding out the fate of her father and other people who have gone missing without a trace. The rally was organised by the Public Union "Relatives of the Missing Without a Trace".

Sevinj Gadjiyeva told F4Media, a correspondent based in Europe, that her father, Akhmad Mammedov, son of Mustafa, went missing in Shusha on 8 May 1992. "From that time on, we have not received any news about him," she said.

A wait that has lasted decades

According to Gadjiyeva, each missing person has relatives who are waiting for them. She said that during the wait, her father's mother, his aunt on the paternal side, her aunt on the maternal side and her own mother had died.

"Today I am here to represent all the children of missing persons who, like me, continue to wait for their fathers," she said.

A call for international attention

Gadjiyeva stressed that families do not lose hope of receiving even the smallest piece of information about the fate of their loved ones.

"Every time the phone rings, we hope to hear some news. We always wait. We ask you to help make our voices heard around the world, find the burial sites and clarify the fate of those who went missing without a trace," she said.

The Brussels rally was aimed at drawing international attention to the fate of Azerbaijanis who have gone missing without a trace and at supporting families who have been waiting for news of their relatives for decades.
