China and Uzbekistan Draw 1:1 at the Asian Games

China and Uzbekistan's women's national teams drew 1:1 in the second round of the group stage at the Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games football tournament. Following the result, China were unable to secure early qualification for the knockout stage.

After a 5:1 victory over Hong Kong in the opening round, China's head coach Antonio Milicic made eight changes to the starting lineup. Wang Shuang, who had scored two goals and provided two assists in the previous match, began the game on the bench.

China controlled possession from the opening minutes and created chances near Uzbekistan's goal. However, it was the Uzbek team that opened the scoring. In the 42nd minute, following a rebound, Kholida Dadaboeva reacted first and headed the ball into the net.

Wang Shuang came on after the break, and China's attacks became more threatening. In the 71st minute, following a corner from Wang Yanyue, Wang Shuang headed the ball back into the danger area, and Zhang Linyan equalised with a header.

Two minutes later, Wang Shuang had a chance to put China ahead. She dribbled past several defenders outside the penalty area and took a long-range shot, but the ball struck the crossbar.

China continued to attack and search for a second goal in the closing stages. Uzbekistan maintained its defensive organisation and prevented its opponents from securing a victory.

China recorded 24 shots during the match, with ten on target. Uzbekistan attempted five shots, three of which were on target.
