On 26 September, Azerbaijan's President Ilham Aliyev met with President of the International Ski and Snowboard Federation Alexander Ospelt. This was reported by the press service of the President of Azerbaijan.
During the conversation, it was noted that Azerbaijan successfully hosts prestigious international sporting events, including winter sports competitions. It was emphasised that the Formula 1 races held in Baku are also organised at a high level.
The meeting noted that Azerbaijan has created modern winter-ski infrastructure. It was emphasised that a number of prestigious competitions will be held at the Shahdag tourist centre with the support of the International Ski and Snowboard Federation.
The role of the partnership agreement between the State Tourism Agency of Azerbaijan and the International Ski and Snowboard Federation, signed last year, was separately noted. According to the parties, it is important for developing the potential of winter tourism and winter sports in the country.
During the meeting, an exchange of views took place on the prospects for cooperation between Azerbaijan and the federation.
On the same day, a meeting between Ilham Aliyev and the President of the International Automobile Federation was also reported.
