CNN, MSNBC and Politico will sue the Trump administration after they were banned from White House access. The outlets announced this in a joint statement on Monday, September 21, 2026.
This morning we notified the government that we are filing a lawsuit to protect our rights guaranteed by the First Amendment and to uphold the principle that the government does not decide what the press writes or publishes.
President Donald Trump announced the ban on these outlets' access to the presidential residence on Friday, September 18. The reason was the dissemination of what he calls "fake news."
The media companies intend to defend their constitutional rights through the courts. The First Amendment to the U.S. Constitution guarantees freedom of speech and the press.
