Erdogan summarizes Bishkek visit and discusses regional security
During his visit to Kyrgyzstan, Recep Tayyip Erdogan stated Turkey's desire to expand ties with Asian partners, emphasizing that this does not mean abandoning the Western vector of foreign policy.

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan concluded his visit to Bishkek, where he participated in the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit as a guest of honor at the invitation of Kyrgyz President Sadyr Japarov. During the trip, the Turkish leader also attended the opening ceremony of the 6th World Nomad Games.
Speaking to the press, Erdogan noted that the SCO, which unites countries with a population of over 4 billion people and an economy worth 35 trillion dollars, is an important partner for Turkey. According to the president, Turkey's annual trade volume with member countries is approaching 150 billion dollars. He emphasized that the 'Asia Anew' initiative, announced in 2019, reflects the country's desire to strengthen ties in this region.
Responding to questions about the possibility of Turkey's full membership in the SCO, Erdogan stated that it is possible in the future, but emphasized: 'The prospect of membership in the organization does not in any way mean a break with blocs or a rejection of the West. Our goal is to increase our own weight with a 360-degree vision.'
Special attention during the visit was paid to bilateral negotiations with Russian President Vladimir Putin. The parties discussed energy, trade, tourism, and the situation in Ukraine. Erdogan expressed hope for the early establishment of peace, noting that Turkey is ready to make every effort to facilitate the negotiation process.
The president also commented on the 'Turkey without terror' process, emphasizing that this is not a matter of a schedule, but a strategic goal. He reported that an oversight board has been created under the leadership of Vice President Cevdet Yilmaz to plan further steps, but the implementation of the law is possible only after the actual laying down of arms by the terrorist organization.
Touching on the situation in Syria, Erdogan positively assessed the decision to dissolve YPG-PYD structures and integrate, calling it an important step for regional stability. He also called on the international community to assist in the reconstruction of Syria.
Regarding Greece, the Turkish president once again called on Athens to abandon the militarization of islands with non-military status. Erdogan emphasized that Turkey does not lay claim to others' territories but will not allow its rights to be violated, adding that 'perceiving Turkey's composure and common sense as weakness is a serious mistake.'
