The German government has officially stated that Russia bears responsibility for an attempted drone attack at Leipzig/Halle Airport.
The incident occurred in the area of the airport, located in the German city of Schkeuditz. On August 5, 2026, a drone was discovered on the premises, leading police to conduct investigative actions near an An-124 Ruslan cargo aircraft.
European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen announced her intention to discuss the situation with NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte. The meeting is scheduled for Wednesday.
