On September 24, 2026, a magnitude 5.4 earthquake occurred in eastern and southeastern Turkey. The epicenter was located in the Karaköprü district of Şanlıurfa Province, the Turkish Disaster and Emergency Management Presidency (AFAD) reported.
Tremors were recorded in several cities in the region. The AFAD statement mentioned, in particular, Diyarbakır, Gaziantep, Şanlıurfa and Elazığ.
AFAD disseminated information about the earthquake through its account on the social network X, indicating the location of the epicenter and the magnitude of the tremors.
