Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, appearing on the program "The Big Game," commented on the progress of contacts with the American side regarding the settlement of the situation in Ukraine. In a conversation with former New Jersey Superior Court Judge Andrew Napolitano, the head of the foreign ministry explained the principles underlying the position of US presidential special envoy Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner.
According to Lavrov, the US representatives are relying on the theses voiced by Donald Trump after his return to the White House. A key element of this position is the inadmissibility of Ukraine joining NATO.
The second important aspect, as the minister noted, is the recognition of "realities on the ground." Lavrov emphasized that in this context, it is not only about territorial issues, but primarily about people. The diplomat recalled the events after February 2014, when the army was used against the population that did not accept the change of power.
In addition, the Russian Foreign Minister commented on reports from Kyiv regarding the alleged tightening of peace terms following the visits of Witkoff and Kushner. Lavrov dismissed such statements by the Ukrainian authorities as speculation.
