Forest fires have broken out in the Turkish provinces of Kayseri, Adana, and Antalya, spreading in close proximity to residential areas. On September 8, 2026, details emerged regarding measures to extinguish the blazes and evacuate residents from affected areas.
According to the General Directorate of Forestry (OGM), fires that started in open and forest lands in the Serik district of Antalya, Yahyalı in Kayseri, as well as Karaisalı and Feke in Adana, have been brought under control. Cooling efforts continue in these areas.
Meanwhile, firefighting efforts continue in the Aksu district of Antalya and the Kozan district of Adana. A total of 7 aircraft, 22 helicopters, 188 fire engines, 8 special vehicles, and 1,000 personnel have been deployed to extinguish the flames.
In the Aksu district, flames engulfed the area after a fire broke out in the Karagöz neighborhood. According to local mukhtar Ahmet Karakış, residents evacuated immediately after the fire began. "So far, one house has completely burned down. Thank God, there are no human casualties. We are fighting with all our strength to extinguish the fire," he stated.
As a result of the incident in the region, 5 houses and several greenhouses were completely destroyed by fire. Three people with disabilities who were inside one of the burned structures suffered smoke inhalation and were transported to the hospital by ambulance.
