Union of Cinematographers of Azerbaijan sets date for reporting and election conference

At a meeting of the board of the Union of Cinematographers of Azerbaijan (UCA), a decision was made to hold a reporting and election conference on September 11, 2026. The event is aimed at regulating the union's activities and preparing for the election of leadership.
During the meeting, the board unanimously approved People's Artist Shafiga Mammadova as the sole candidate for the position of UCA chair. Until the conference is held, Mammadova, who serves as first secretary, has been temporarily entrusted with the powers of the organization's head.
Personnel issues regarding the executive staff were also addressed. The board granted the resignation request of Executive Secretary Ali Isa Jabbarov. Previously, Jabbarov had withdrawn his candidacy for the position of union chair.
In addition to personnel changes, the meeting participants discussed the union's current activities and membership issues. A decision was made to update the list of organization members, including reviewing the termination of membership for a number of individuals based on submitted lists.
It should be recalled that the previous chair of the Union of Cinematographers of Azerbaijan, Rasim Balayev, passed away on March 29. An attempt to hold an election conference on May 26 was unsuccessful due to a lack of quorum.
