International events matter not only for the days they are held, but also for the new knowledge, experience and connections they give participants. The interactive sessions held within the framework of the World Urban Forum – WUF13 also created opportunities for young people to develop their thinking about the future of cities and to gain experience participating in international discussions.
At a series of sessions held in the NGO Pavilion of WUF13, organised by the “New Way” Youth Education Public Union, local and international young people came together. The main focus of the activities was developing young people’s knowledge and ideas related to building greener, more inclusive and more sustainable cities.
During the sessions, participants took part in an interactive presentation on “Introduction to Sustainable Cities”, and a Kahoot quiz on urban planning and ecology was organised. Within the framework of the “Your Vision, Your City” project, young people formed their own ideal city models and shared their views on future cities.
These activities not only gave young people new knowledge on urban planning and sustainable development, but also created conditions for the development of their teamwork, creative thinking, presentation and international communication skills.
This experience gained within the framework of WUF13 created an important opportunity for young people to participate more actively in discussions about the future of cities and to express their ideas on international platforms.
