Warning to Truck Drivers: What Not to Do

Azerbaijan's Main State Traffic Police Department has reminded drivers of heavy vehicles about road safety rules. The move was prompted by the fact that road traffic incidents involving heavy vehicles have been frequent recently.
It is noted that such accidents are distinguished by a high degree of severity. In order to prevent them, truck drivers were again reminded of a number of recommendations, compliance with which is of vital importance.
Drivers are required first and foremost to:
- observe the established speed limit on the road; choose the correct following distance; strictly observe the rules on overtaking and maneuvering; ensure that the weight and dimensions of the cargo comply with regulatory requirements, as well as its packaging and secure fastening; monitor the technical serviceability of the vehicle; observe the work and rest regime and not get behind the wheel tired or without sleep; not use a mobile phone or other distracting devices while driving; take weather and road conditions into account while driving.
The Main State Traffic Police Department calls on drivers to observe traffic rules and safety requirements, and to treat the safety of other road users responsibly.
